Mesa Arizona’s First All-Electric Fire Truck

We’re excited to announce the latest addition to Mesa’s firefighting fleet – an innovative, all-electric fire truck now stationed at Fire Station 221 in southeast Mesa. This remarkable vehicle is far from your average fire truck; it’s a key player in our city’s commitment to environmental sustainability and the safety of our heroic firefighters.

Mayor John Giles enthusiastically supports this electric fire truck, recognizing its role in making Mesa a greener city. It aligns with Mesa’s ambitious long-term plan to prioritize environmental stewardship, aiming for a more sustainable future by 2050.

The features of this cutting-edge fire truck are truly impressive. It operates quietly, leaving minimal environmental footprint, and boasts exceptional firefighting capabilities. Remarkably, it can continuously pump water for four hours without requiring recharging.

Council member Scott Somers of District 6 highlights the significance of housing this high-tech fire truck at a location formerly used for testing advanced vehicles. He sees this as a fitting match for Mesa’s commitment to innovation.

Fire Station 221 is well-equipped with rapid-charging infrastructure for the fire truck, ensuring both the safety of our firefighters and speedy deployment.

Fire Chief Mary Cameli takes immense pride in this new addition, recognizing it as a substantial leap forward in firefighter safety and well-being. This exemplifies Mesa’s penchant for embracing new technologies and leading the way.

Named “Vector,” this exceptional fire truck was manufactured by E-ONE, who shares our enthusiasm for Mesa’s greener future.

Funding for this eco-friendly marvel came from Mesa’s residents, demonstrating our collective commitment to investing in vital initiatives. Moreover, a specialized charging system at the fire station enables rapid recharging of the truck.

Isn’t this a remarkable step? Mesa continues to pioneer initiatives that benefit both our planet and the safety of our community.
